Bart Stenhouse Group to perform at India International Guitar Festival 2016!

Hi Folks,

I am very excited to announce that my jazz fusion ensemble 'The Bart Stenhouse Group' has been invited to perform at the India International Guitar Festival in Kolkata (Calcutta) India in Jan 2016!!

We are currently running a Pozible campaign and need a little help with covering the cost of the flights to the festival (we are covering the remaining costs ourselves).

We will be working with some amazing artists in India such as tabla player Shri Subhasis Bhattacharya and violinist Pandit Sukhdev Mishra, and are also taking the fantastic Australian live sound engineer Mike 'Beachy' Wild with us to record the set to release after the festival (which is included in the rewards for the campaign)!

Head to the link below to hear, see and read more about the festival, the musicians involved and what awesome goodies you can score as part of it. Have a great weekend, hope to have you on the team!

Dual Album Launch on Saturday Oct 10 - SAE West End, Brisbane

Liberation on the 26th of May may sound like an arbitrary name for a song, but it has special meaning for jazz and world musician Bart Stenhouse. That was the day Bart set his sights squarely on every musician’s dream – to produce, release and perform his own music – and a free music workshop and Pozible crowdfunding campaign might just get him there.

This has been a big year for Bart. Following a move from Brisbane to Byron Bay to pursue his musical passions, Bart has spared no time in recording two new world jazz fusion albums featuring his original compositions.

“Best of Times and Five Days in Granada are two albums that blend and explore the signature rhythms and harmonies of different world music cultures with the music genres that I like, including jazz, rock, blues and funk”, explains Bart.

“These albums have been inspired by my recent travels across North America, Spain and India. I have fused the musical styles of these cultures together with my own unique playing style to create a sound that leaves the listener energised and ready for more”.

The end result is a mix of dynamic, instrumental melodies and solos showcasing popping Indian rhythms through to firey flamenco harmonies.

The songs are brought to life on the albums by some of Australia’s best up and coming jazz cats, including Vibraphonist James Whiting, Pianist Cleon Barraclough, Bassist David Galea, Tenor Saxophonist Ben Byrne and Drummers Trent Bryson-Dean and Bob Peele.

So where can you find these albums? Well, they are not quite ready yet.

“My goal is to launch the albums live, in concert, on Saturday 10 October this year at the SAE Institute in Brisbane” said Bart. “To do this though, I need some support”.

Bart has set up a Pozible campaign to give him the chance to master, press and release both albums and launch them live in concert, with the original recording artists. It’s here you can find the albums and get tickets to the live concert launch.

“Everyone can get in on the goods and every contribution counts” Bart said. “I also have a passion for helping others achieve their own musical potential, so as part of my campaign I am offering a free jazz and world music workshop. The workshop is suitable for all types of instruments and players and we will be covering concepts that I have learnt from flamenco, Indian classical and modern jazz music”.

The workshop will be held:

- In Byron Bay at Byron Music, 144 Johnson Street on Saturday 12 September, from 11am to 12.30pm. Space is limited so call Byron Music on (02) 6685 7333 to secure your spot.

-In Brisbane at The Best Music Shop, 24 Goggs Road, Jindalee Homemaker Centre Jindalee on Thursday 1st October, from 7:30pm to 9pm. Space is limited so call Best Music Shop on (07) 3376 5454 to secure your spot.

You can also head over to www.pozible.com/bartstenhouse to lend your support to launch the career of a local and talented musician and listen to some sample tracks off Bart’s new albums.

Tickets for the Dual Album Launch are available through the Schedule Page.

A double world jazz fusion album release - is it pozible?

You may have heard along the grapevine that Bart is in the throes of recording and producing two new world jazz fusion albums. Well, today marks day one of Bart’s Pozible crowdfunding campaign for the chance to finish the production, pressing and launch of the albums.

This has been a big year for Bart Stenhouse. Inspired by his recent travels across North America, Spain and India, Bart has spared no time in developing two new albums that fuse the musical styles of these cultures together in an exotic and unique mix.

Trained as a jazz musician and a skilled multi-instrumentalist, Bart’s compositions seamlessly blend dynamic, instrumental melodies and solos with popping Indian rhythms and firey flamenco harmonies.

His first of the two new release albums, Best of Times, is an engaging mix of Indian-inspired tempos and tunes featuring tight interplay between electric guitar and jazz saxophone. It is an unusual blend, but one that leaves the listener energised and ready for more.

The second album, Five Days in Granada, draws strongly on flamenco chords and harmonies, buoyed by spirited jazz vibraphone and uplifting drum solos.

The albums feature some of Brisbane’s best up and coming jazz cats, including Vibraphonist James Whiting, Pianist and Keyboardist Cleon Barraclough, Bassist David Galea, Tenor Saxophonist Ben Byrne and Drummers Trent Bryson-Dean and Bob Peele.

So where can you find these albums? Well, they are not quite ready yet! Getting to the point of releasing the albums will be a group effort. Bart has already recorded the albums, but the next step, producing, pressing and launching the albums, is in your hands.

So here’s your chance to get in on the goods, because they are good! Pop over to Bart’s Pozible campaign to check out the project and share what you like about it with family and friends. There are some awesome rewards up for grabs. Get in early for an autographed copy of the new albums, nab some launch concert tickets or even become an executive producer of the albums! It’s your opportunity to seed the start of something bigger.

Seriously, we hope it gets you as jazzed up about jazz as we are!

Enchanting journey of Jazz-Indo fusion

A recent meeting between bansuri flute maestro Shyan Kishore and jazz/world multi-instrumentalist Bart Stenhouse led to an evening of inspiration and exploration between different realms of sound from the North Indian Classical and Jazz roots.

Performed as an intimate house concert in Byron Bay, the evening showcased Jazz-Indo fusion works composed by Bart Stenhouse, as well as traditional Indian Ragas and tributes to compositions by John McLaughlin and ground breaking group Shakti. The audience also got a sneak peak into some new material being developed and recorded by Bart for a new world music album. The new album will be released later in the year and includes a track written to feature Shyan's skill on the Bansuri.

The coming together of Shyan Kishore and Bart Stenhouse transported the audience on an enchanting journey of uplifting and energising tunes through to meditative and soulful song. Adding the final touch was renowned Tabla percussionist Shen Flindell and Mio Shinohara on Tampura.

Be sure to follow Bart Stenhouse and Shyan Kishore to keep abreast of upcoming performances and hidden house concert gems.
